Programme Structure & Content

In the Internationales Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen - Operations (International Business and Engineering - Operations) degree programme you will become familiar with fundamental concepts of business administration and engineering. A particular focus of the degree programme lies on the planning and optimisation of production processes at the interface between technology and business as well as on the relevant international and intercultural aspects and the integration of economic and engineering concepts in different regions of the world.

Major fields of study

You will gain wide-ranging expertise in production management. You will be able to analyse, shape, manage and optimise technical and business systems efficiently. In the sixth semester you will be able to shape a part of the course contents individually by selecting elective subjects. In the seventh semester you write your thesis. For a more detailed view, please see the following schedule.

Course of studies

You study for seven semesters, spending one semester on an internship and at least one semester abroad. After graduating you will be ready for challenging consulting or management tasks at the interface between business and engineering, both in internationally operating medium-sized companies and in large international corporations.

International and practical experience

You will improve your English language proficiency and intercultural skills with your stays abroad and apply your knowledge in projects in a company in business games and in our innovative learning factory Werk 150. You will learn to use technical English in a working context and work in multinational teams. The curriculum is adapted to the requirements of a globalised economy. This will provide you with ideal preparation for a successful career in companies or in consulting.

You will gather your first practical experience in the 4th semester on an industrial internship at a company in Germany – on request also abroad – in a company division that is suited to the degree programme. Useful contacts for both internships and subsequent career opportunities can be established through the Career Center at ESB as well as at the career fairs which take place every semester on the Reutlingen campus.
