Career prospects right from the 1st semester

Students and companies network at the ESB Firmenforum (Company Forum) in the Town Hall of Reutlingen

By Katrin Reil

37 companies with job vacancies meet 700 students with career aspirations: On 10 November, the Firmenforum of ESB Business School at Reutlingen University pointed the way to many different careers. From internships to direct entry, students from all semesters were able to find out about their options and make real-world contacts in the Town Hall of Reutlingen.

At the stands of the Firmenforum, students did not need an appointment to find out more about the exhibiting companies and their career options, application processes and job profiles. In pre-arranged one-on-one meetings, there was the opportunity to talk about individual perspectives. “It’s cool that you can approach companies here that you haven’t had any contact with before. You don’t need to be afraid of big names“, says Marie Brohm, a student in the BSc International Business programme.

At the career fair, it is a tradition for ESB Business School’s partner companies from the Association for the Promotion of International Management Education (VIMA e.V.) to present themselves. "We have been coming here for many years and have had countless wonderful conversations. We are always happy to present ourselves here“, says Julia Furtwängler from Holtzbrinck Publishing Group.

For Louis Elser, a student in the MSc International Business Development programme, the wide range of participating companies was particularly exciting. I am interested in the automotive industry, but also in consulting or companies like Kärcher. In all sectors, I can have good conversations here.“

The ESB Firmenforum was organised by the Career Center of ESB Business School in cooperation with a student team. Due to construction work on the campus of Reutlingen University, the event was moved to the Town Hall this year. The fair was conducted CO2 neutral. The premiere was a success, thus the positive verdict of Manuel Groth and Djuna Eguavoen from ALDI GmbH & Co. KG: “We have a small, familiar setting here, but one with big companies.”

In addition to the Firmenforum, ESB Business School organises a second annual fair in spring with the International Business Fair. This ensures that students are able to network with the real world at an early stage, creating the best conditions for an ideal career start.
