ESB Alumni Weekend

Management meets Research – The agenda of the 2019 alumni weekend

40 years of ESB Business School and 10 years of the ESB Reutlingen Alumni Association. - "Time to Celebrate!": At the 2019 alumni weekend on16 November we are not only going to party with you but are also offering a programme with exciting professional impulses.

“Time to Celebrate!“ is the motto of the 2019 alumni weekend on 16 November 2019. ESB Business School will be forty years old, the ESB Reutlingen Alumni Association will celebrate its ten-year anniversary and our alumni with their graduation years cover all the anniversaries in between.

The programme for the homecoming to Reutlingen offers plenty of opportunities to toast all the big anniversaries as well as ESB’s AACSB accreditation. Moreover, we will provide professional input from management practice and applied research.

Please note: Tickets for the 2019 alumni weekend are available until 15 September at the early-bird rate on Eventbrite.

Our agenda for the 2019 alumni weekend on 16 November:

1.30 – 2.30pm: Welcome back & find

fellow students

We are looking forward to seeing you again on campus!

2.30 – 3.00pm: Introduction ESB Reutlingen Alumni Association & ESB Business School

Philipp Greiner (President ESB Reutlingen Alumni Association) and Professor Dr Andreas Taschner (Dean of ESB Business School) welcome you back. Professor Dr Hans J. Tümmers looks back at 40 years of ESB history.  .

3.00 – 3.30pm: Keynote “Successful management: yesterday- today-tomorrow“ by Rolf Sigmund (IPBS 1984)

Rolf Sigmund is from the first generation of ESB graduates. The retired general manager L’Oréal, member of the advisory board and consultant will speak about the experiences he had in his 35-year management career and give impulses for tomorrow’s management.

4.00 – 5.45pm: Back to the Roots – ESB Research Talks

ESB professors and scientists will show the exciting future-related research topics they are currently working on.

Professor Dr Daniel Palm – guided tour through werk150 (formerly logistics learning factory)

The research and development environment at ESB Business School manages and is involved in numerous projects related to digital transformation and Industry.4.0 including cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute and the European Initiative on Learning Factories. In August 2019 werk150 moved into the first construction section of a new building on the Reutlingen campus. In future this will be used for state-of-the art research, teaching and working – including in one of the first scientific 5G test environments in Baden-Württemberg.

Professor. Dr Arjan Kozica – Why adopt a simple approach when we can adopt a complicated one: Management of the digital transformation in the working environment

How will small and medium-sized companies manage the transition to digitisation? How will the working environment of the future change? What do future managers have to do to be good “digital leaders“?

Professor Dr Nello Gaspardo – Know how to deal with tough dogs, hyperactive apes and arrogant giraffes in professional and everyday life.

Is the boss a tough dog? The co-worker a hyperactive ape? And how do you handle this? With loads of “animal-like” sensitivity of course.

Professor Dr Martin Mocker – Designed for Digital: How to Architect Your Business for Sustained Success

What problems do established companies have with the topic of digitisation? Who is already doing it right today? What does a good roadmap for digitisation look like?

Anna Göddeke - Female Leadership: Why is there a lack of women in management positions?

Female professors, managers, CEOs – also in 2019 women are rarely found in top positions in academia and industry. What are the reasons for this? And what measures can be taken to change it?

5.45 – 6.45pm: Walk’n’Talk

Recent graduate or celebrating an anniversary? Here for the first time or an old hand? We will get you talking to each other!

6.45 – 7.30pm: Alumni Spirit Update & General Meeting

What have we done over the past year, what are the plans for the future? The Association’s board reports on the work of the ESB Reutlingen Alumni Association. You will find the invitation to our general meeting here.

7.30pm – midnight: Dinner, Drinks & Networking

Time to celebrate! Here’s to 40 years of ESB Business School and 10 years of the ESB Reutlingen Alumni Association as well as to all those celebrating an anniversary!
