A modern and uniformly designed website with the latest content management system and close links to social media - these were the goals of the ESB Reutlingen Alumni Association around one and a half years ago when starting the redesign process for their website. The result of the intensive development phase is now online.
In the following the design team will present extracts from the major changes and benefits of the new alumni website. The complete article will be published in the upcoming issue of Europolitan, the alumni magazine.

"It all began in summer 2015 when we were thinking about how we could best reach the various target groups and members of our society via different channels. Very soon it became clear to us that our website is the communicative heart. It combines many benefits, our event tool, for instance, as well as the job exchange with job openings specially for ESB alumni.
With the new approach it was particularly important for us to keep the existing platform concept and to enhance the benefits for our members. A new content management system has been designed to help create contents more dynamically and across all channels in future. Further, it is our goal to integrate and so digitise several processes in our system that were previously controlled manually. Registration for membership in the Alumni Association, for example, is now also possible online.

The core offering of our Association includes events such as the annual Alumni Weekend and get-togethers in many cities all over the world which is why we have also thoroughly overhauled this feature and have deployed a new event tool. This means, for example, that future alumni events can be communicated and shared more easily via social media platforms.

To further professionalise our Newsletter communication and to adapt it to the layout of the new website, we have decided to deploy a new newsletter tool. This enables us not only to create more targeted newsflashes but also to adapt more newsletters, e.g. about get-togethers, clubs or special events such as the Alumni Weekend, to specific groups.

Social networks in professional networking have also become increasingly important in recent years. Therefore it will be possible in future to create links to XING, LinkedIn and Facebook in the personal profiles in the list of members.
Our aim in future is to use our social media accounts more and more to spread the contents of the website. Key components here will be especially news articles, features from previously published issues of Europolitan as well as events.

We are looking forward to the beginning of a new era for the Alumni Website!"
