Alumni vs. Covid-19, career news and a club for women

News from the ESB Alumni Community

Alumni against Covid-19

The coronavirus has kept the world on tenterhooks since the beginning of the year – and it is also a topic in the ESB alumni community.

Back in spring ESB Reutlingen Alumni e.V. reported on Florian von der Mülbe (MBA 2005), co-founder and COO of the Tübingen biotech company CureVac, which is currently conducting research on a vaccine against Covid19.

A test for the coronavirus has been launched by Oliver Schacht (IPBS 1994), managing director of Curetis, a molecular diagnostics company. He answers questions about it in the alumni magazine Europolitan.

In India, alumnus Shounak Deshmukh (MBA 2020) also worked on the development of a corona test.

In order to support its members in times of corona, ESB Reutlingen Alumni e.V. has created the Alumni Spirit Support. Under the umbrella of the initiative, there have been internship and job placements, webinars as wells as yoga and mindfulness training.

Women’s Club

The foundation of the ESB Women’s Club within the alumni network was not a result of corona but the consequence of a chance meeting of several ESB graduates in Munich. A team around Antonia Kalusche (IPBS 2020) and Laura Pröfrock (IPBS 2018) wants to network and promote ESB alumnae with the Women’s Club.  In the interview you can find out more about the kick-off and their future plans.

Career News

We congratulate our alumni and wish them much success and “ESB Spirit” in their new tasks!

Ralph Haupter (MBA 1998) has been President for EMEA at Microsoft since April.

Simon Land (IPBS 2005) was appointed Senior Partner at McKinsey on July 1 and is also global co-leader of revenue growth management.

Also since 1 July, Stefan Bomhard (IPBS 1991) has been Chief Executive Officer of Imperial Brands.

A new partner at HV Holtzbrinck Ventures is Jasper Masemann (IPBS 2004).

David Hanisch (IPBS 2006) joins the management of the Munich agency Hattenberger Partners of Ulrich Hattenberger (IPBS 2006).

Social Projects in the in the ESB Alumni Network

ESB student and alumni association member Pascal Kurzawa (IB 2021) has launched the initiative ”Pedal the Pandemic“ with two friends. With a fundraising bicycle tour through South Korea, they collected more than € 2,000 in aid of the corona emergency fund of the German Red Cross.

In spring, ESB Reutlingen Alumni e.V. looked back on three charity projects that have already been presented in the past. We are pleased about the alumni commitment within the school project Burkina Faso, Future Madagascar and the initiative Good Future and Hope.

The scholarship platform and online community Africademics by founder and project manager Lena Gronbach (AW 2013) is still a very young project. With this project, she particularly addresses African students.
