Studying Sustainably

The study programme BSc Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen – Sustainable Production and Business launches in summer semester 2021.

Reutlingen University’s ESB Business School offers the new programme Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen – Sustainable Production and Business which will start in the summer semester 2021. The new programme will focus on sustainability. Students will develop a product from the new idea stage, to planning, to application. Prospective students can apply for the degree programme from November onwards.

In the Bachelor’s programme BSc Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen – Sustainable Production and Business students will receive interdisciplinary training to become industrial engineers. A core area of research will be the sustainable development of products and industry. In small teams, the students will take a product from its development to final implementation. To do this, they will carry out a market analyses, draw up financial plans and develop sales strategies. The new degree programme also provides the necessary know-how for graduates to implement their ideas for a product, up to and including founding a company.

The BSc Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen - Sustainable Production and Business puts sustainability at the forefront. Students are responsible for a sustainable design of the production environment and for the economical use of resources and energy. Because they organise the entire production and distribution chain, they identify closely with the product.

Dean of Studies, Professor Wolfgang Echelmeyer, emphasises the manifold aspects of the teaching. “Industrial engineers work across all sectors at the interface between technology and management. Our new BSc Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen - Sustainable Production and Business programme prepares our students specifically for this environment and is already writing tomorrow's success stories today.”

The new programme at ESB Business School is a new offshoot of the BSc Production Management programme. In seven semesters, it prepares students for the environmental and entrepreneurial challenges of the future. An internship semester and a semester at an international partner university are firmly integrated into the curriculum. A wealth of lectures and seminars in English round off the international profile of the programme. Starting in November, prospective students can apply for the summer semester 2021 programme.
