New ESB professor

Professor Dr. Günter Bitsch on board since March 2020

After completing a technical training course and a degree in mathematics in Stuttgart, Professor Bitsch founded the software company becos, a technology spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute IPA in 1987 and since then has been running his own business. Following an executive MBA degree, he was awarded a doctorate at the University of Siegen on the subject of strategic growth management in owner-managed knowledge-based small and medium-sized enterprises. In addition, he studied coaching and supervision in Frankfurt and completed training in logotherapy in Tübingen. Since then he has also been working as a supervisor and logotherapist.

Professor Bitsch has been teaching at ESB Business School since 1999 as an external lecturer (IMX) and since 2013 as an honorary professor. In March 2020, the teaching staff at ESB welcomed him as a permanent member of staff at the School.

Professor Bitsch focuses on research areas and interests concerned with the design of socio-technical systems, particularly in production systems. “A special challenge here is to link the technical, economic and social aspects in the best possible way in order to design effective and efficient systems. Here the driving factors such as digitisation and the use of artificial intelligence must be integrated so that with hybrid systems the advantages of the respective components can be exploited”, comments Professor Günter Bitsch on his research.

We are eager to see how this know-how will be incorporated into lectures and projects with the students and wish Professor Bitsch a successful start.
