Reutlingen University in the Top 5

Excellent outcome in the U-Multirank 2022 international ranking

By Susanne Sinn-Bisinger & Sven Rottner

In the current edition of the internationally recognised university ranking U-Multirank, Reutlingen University achieved the top grade of "excellent" in eight categories, thus ranking among the top 5 universities of applied sciences nationwide. ESB Business School did particularly well in the areas of international orientation and contact with professional practice.

In the current ranking, the teaching areas of industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics and computer science were re-evaluated.

In industrial engineering, ESB Business School once again enjoyed top rankings in several categories. ESB Business School did particularly well in the areas of international orientation and contact with professional practice. In terms of opportunities to study abroad, ESB stood out just as positively from the national average of higher education institutions as it did in the international orientation of its teaching.

In the area of practical relevance, ESB Business School scored particularly well with its wide range of courses with practical relevance, as well as with the many opportunities it provides for internships. ESB’s comprehensive support and advice for students' career planning was also rated above average.

ESB also held its own against other institutions of higher education in the categories of digital teaching and IT. It scored particularly strongly here in the provision of software and hardware and in the availability of wi-fi on campus.

Professor Dr. Christoph Binder, Dean of ESB Business School, said he was pleased with the School's very good performance. “The excellent results in the various categories are proof that our students can rely on excellent international teaching and first-class preparation for international careers at ESB Business School,” he said.

The School of Engineering also performed very well in many areas in the U-Multirank 2022. While the Industrial Engineering - International Project Engineering programme excelled particularly in the areas of international orientation and contact with professional practice, students in the Mechanical Engineering program rated all aspects of studying in their department as good, especially teaching and the general study situation. Mechatronics also received good ratings for its general study situation.

This is another great success after the university’s ESB Business School and School of Informatics maintained their leading positions in the WirtschaftsWoche ranking in May of this year.

Professor Harald Dallmann, Vice President for Academic Affairs, also expressed satisfaction with the result. “Once again, we have a very good ranking result, and this confirms our consistently good work and reflects our strengths in the areas of practical relevance, teaching and internationality in an international comparison."
