TRUMPF Inc., USA,
Business Development Manager Additive Manufacturing

The International Business Development (IBD) Master’s degree programme appealed to me right from the start. Its international focus, the wide-ranging study programme and the strategic orientation of its contents immediately caught my attention.
Studying at ESB is very diverse and demanding. You work on a whole variety of projects with different, in part international students, you have to organise and coordinate. This is certainly a challenge but it prepares the students perfectly for professional life.  Moreover, ESB’s excellent reputation and its good network are a great help when looking for a job. I got to know TRUMPF GmbH + Co. KG during the Management Workshop Week in the IBD degree programme. This resulted in an internship abroad followed by a Master’s thesis in the USA as well as employment as a business development manager in the field of additive manufacturing. Here I am responsible for strategic market development in 3D printing in North America and I apply the content of my Master’s course on a daily basis.

Graduate
E.ON Business Services GmbH Customer Experience Manager

I chose the International Business Development Master’s programme because I was convinced by the overall package of degree programme.
After gaining my Bachelor degree at a cooperative state university I was especially keen to do a full-time Master’s course in an international environment which would help me to develop both on a professional and individual level.  An appropriate mix of theory and practice is guaranteed by professionally experienced lecturers who consistently underpin their lectures with practical examples, by student projects that are carried out in cooperation with companies as well as by career fairs on campus where students meet and exchange information with potential employers.  The different backgrounds of the fellow students bring a diverse wealth of experience to university life. ESB Business School has an excellent reputation and enables students to gather valuable experience abroad at one of the partner universities. One particular highlight for me was my semester abroad in Mexico. Now that I have gained my Master’s degree I feel very well prepared for my future!

Management Assistant to President and CEO (Intern), Senior Consultant

I applied for the International Business Development Master’s degree programme because …
... for me standing still is a no-no. After completing a dual course of studies and more than three years of professional life, I felt the need to broaden my specialist, academic and intercultural horizons in order to gain new professional perspectives in the sales management area of an international company. The International Business Development Master’s degree programme fully met my requirements.

How well did your Master’s degree programme prepare you for your present profession?
The International Business Development Master’s degree programme enabled me to acquire new skills in international sales management. Moreover, I learned how to deal with high levels of stress and how to put my theoretical knowledge into practice both in a team and on my own very quickly and with a focus on results.

Which three aspects of your course do you think were particularly useful for your present career?
Besides the sound training in business administration with a strong international focus, I especially liked the large number of practical study projects, which were partly carried out in cooperation with renowned companies from a whole variety of industries. Further, the outstanding company network and the excellent reputation of the School were both helpful for starting a career.

What do you like most about your current occupation and your current employer?
In my present occupation I like above all the deep insight I obtain in important strategic and operative projects or activities in an exciting growth market. For me the special thing about Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG is the friendly environment working in small teams, the high level of internationality and above all the love for the product shown by the employees, who stand behind the legend of Porsche and are aware of the tradition and corporate values.

Looking back, which classes in your course do you feel were the most important for your current profession?
I would pick out the different study projects, particularly the study project Entrepreneurship, which with its large scale and holistic business approach teaches essential skills – both in the creation of enterprises as well as in corporate management and in teambuilding.

What did you enjoy about your course and where did you perhaps have to struggle a little?
+ challenging team projects from which in addition to learning success and enhanced social skills close friendships developed,
- an enormous workload made up of lectures, tests, study projects and presentations, especially in the second semester.

I applied for the International Business Development Master’s degree programme because I would like to enhance my professional skills. ESB Business School has an excellent reputation and the degree programme provides an attractive mix of practical relevance and theory. This means that I will not only increase the specialised knowledge I have acquired up to now but also deepen my knowledge in new corporate areas.
The campus is multicultural and lively. When you walk through the campus you hear a whole variety of languages being spoken.
I also get a very good feeling from the first-rate commitment of the professors and staff. We are actively supported. The limited number of students is ideal. New perspectives on defined topics are developed here. The backgrounds of my fellow students are very different –it is incredible how much you can learn from this wealth of experience. I am proud of being a part of this diversity.
