IB Vision

IB Vision is a student organisation that deals with all student activities which are directly concerned with the BSc International Business degree programme. Our aim is to promote our degree programme with all-round student commitment and we work in close cooperation with the degree programme coordinators.

For instance, we are involved in the organisation of our introductory week at the beginning of the semester, are actively engaged in the marketing of our degree programme and enhance the team spirit of current as well as former IB students with our events.

With 15 departments in which around 100 IB students are involved every semester, we are one of the largest student organisations at Reutlingen University.

Students can get an idea of our Departments at the beginning of every semester and find out about the different fields of activity. By getting involved, our IB Vision members have the opportunity to work in dynamic teams on projects that relate directly to their course and also get the chance as heads of departments to take responsibility for a project.

Our IB Vision Head Team coordinates the activities of IB Vision and creates the necessary conditions for ensuring that the IB Vision Departments work successfully. In the following we will present the functions of the Head Team and provide details of our individual departments.

With 14 committees in which around 90-100 IB students are involved every semester, we are one of the largest student organisations at Reutlingen University.

Strategy Leaders

Strategy Leaders from IB Vision are responsible for the overall coordination of the organisation’s departments and represent them externally. The Strategy Leaders synchronise IB Vision’s activities with the degree programme’s coordinators. They represent the interests of the IB degree programme in the academic area with other organisations within the ESB student network. Further, the Strategy Leaders negotiate with ESB’s school board a budget which they manage and distribute to the departments. The Strategy Leaders are also required to play an active part in optimising internal processes and in the professionalisation of the degree programme and in developing new, innovative projects.

In this role they are the first contact persons for the department heads, set common goals with them and monitor fulfilment of these goals. At the same time, they are directly involved in the implementation of important projects and events. Further tasks include the recruiting of new department members and the selection of heads of the marketing departments. In addition, the Heads of Marketing support the Strategy Leaders and are entrusted with the actual implementation of new projects and processes in the individual departments.

Photo Department

The Photo Department is responsible for capturing events of the IB degree programme in pictures. With photographs of official events such as the career fair, memories are captured and uploaded to our own Facebook page.

Social Media Department

The Social Media Department is responsible for the IB Facebook page and the IB blog. Via these channels we inform IB applicants and students about all the activities on campus and share inspiring contributions with our Community.

Fair Department

The Fair Department represents the IB course of study at virtual and real fairs. Further, the department members are constantly searching for new ways of increasing awareness of the IB programme in different countries and present these ideas to the course coordinators. With this work the department contributes actively to making the IB programme even better known worldwide.

Sales Force Department

The Sales Force Department is significantly involved in the organisation of the IB course presentation at ESB and university student information days for future students. The department recruits students, instructs and schedules them at the information stand. On the information day the department members inform pupils and parents about the degree programme.

Ambassador Department

The Ambassador Department sends International Business students to their former schools. The Ambassadors present ESB Business School using a Power Point presentation, for example, or at an information stand at the School. For these purposes the Ambassador Department takes care of providing and updating the presentation as well as administrative tasks generally connected with this. Further, the department is the link between the Ambassadors and the School and promotes the Ambassador programme.

Heads of Orientation

Heads of Orientation at IB Vision are responsible for our seven orientation departments. In this role they are the first contact persons for the department heads, set common goals with them and monitor fulfilment of these goals. At the same time, they are directly involved in the implementation of major projects and events. Further tasks are the recruiting of new department members and the selection of heads of the orientation departments. International Living and Learning Department

The International Living and Learning Department supports the project of the same name with which, ideally, a flat is found and rented every semester in which IB first semester students can live. This not only saves the selected students the difficult task of finding somewhere to live but they are also offered a unique, international living environment in which the students can learn a lot from each other.

IB/AW Reunion Department

The IB/AW Reunion Department organises a get-together for current students with IB/AW alumni professors that takes place every two years. In a relaxed networking atmosphere alumni share their work experiences, give talks and provide valuable tips. The students can take an active part in this event, ask questions and gain first insights into their professional life after graduating from ESB Business School.  This not only provides a chance for communication between alumni and students but also serves to enhance our unique ESB Spirit.

Study Support Department

The Study Support Department supports all students of the IB program by providing content summaries of the different subjects, sample solutions and helpful links to learning videos, articles and books. The task of the department is to check the students' records and their solutions and their quality, so that the IB-students can use the material to prepare themselves specifically for the lessons and exams.

International Integration Department

The International Integration Department organises trips for all IB students every semester. These Community activities help to integrate the international students and are an ideal chance to meet fellow students from different semesters and at the same time discover what the area around Reutlingen has to offer.

Mentoring Department

The Mentoring Department supports first-semester students before and during their stay at ESB Business School. Every semester the Department provides a mentor for every new student to help them answer questions and solve problems. The Mentoring Department also creates the Student Handbook which provides all the new students with the most important information.

Application Process Department

The Application Process Department maintains the ask-a-student button on the website of the International Business degree programme and is responsible for supporting the application process from the view of the student. Department members welcome the applicants to ESB Business School during the IB selection days and participate in selection days as student representatives.

Practical Business Studies Department

The Practical Business Studies Department helps our students share experiences about their internship semester. The Department organises a presentation day at which all IB students who have returned from the practical phase present their internship, in this way inspiring students from lower semesters and providing them with useful insights for finding an internship.

Heads of Study Abroad

As the IB students have unique selection options regarding their degree and their study semester abroad, IB Vision places a particular focus on this. This is why the Heads of Study Abroad are responsible for presenting the various degree options and the over 60 different partner universities worldwide to IB students. For this purpose the Skype Presentation Department and the Lunch Abroad Department have been established. The department members update the respective information, flyers and posters. In addition, the Heads of Study Abroad support the Strategy Leaders and are entrusted with the actual implementation of new projects and processes in their area of responsibility.

Lunch Abroad Department

The Lunch Abroad Department organises a big event every semester at which information about the more than 50 partner universities of the IB degree programme is provided. The event is organised as a poster fair and is presented by exchange students from the partner universities and includes Skype presentations of the different partner universities for master’s degrees. While exchanging information in a relaxed atmosphere the students learn of the options of studying abroad.

Skype Presentation Department

The Skype Presentation Department focuses on the exchange of information between students who are interested in the unique fast-track option and students who have chosen this option and are currently doing their Master’s degree at a partner university abroad. With organised Skype presentations students have the opportunity to meet each other in a relaxed atmosphere and to exchange information about life at our partner universities
