Digital Hub Neckar-Alb and Sigmaringen

Within the framework of an appeal for funding the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs has selected ten regional centers (digital hubs) to deal with the topic of digitisation. These are to be seen as competence centers in which different competencies, information and knowledge on the topic of digitisation are concentrated and by means of cooperations and events made available to the general public and industry. The digital hubs are thus the first points of contact relating to the subject of digitisation.

Reutlingen University, together with Albstadt-Sigmaringen University, the cities of Reutlingen, Albstadt and Sigmaringen, the counties of Tübingen and Zollernalbkreis, in a consortium led by the Reutlingen Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is part of the Digital Hub Neckar-Alb and Sigmaringen (DNS). The aim of the hub is to link digitisation actors from different economic sectors, research and public administration. Existing digitisation activities in the Neckar-Alb region and in Sigmaringen will be presented in a structured and transparent manner in order to develop new, attractive and target-group oriented offers both for small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) and the public.

These include

  • raising awareness for digitisation topics
  • an overview of different digitisation concepts in the region
  • networking and promotion of the digitisation of small and medium-sized enterprises in the region
  • protecting existing business models by means of digitisation
  • development of skills to generate new business models
  • promotion of development of digital innovations
  • acceleration of technology transfer from universities to SMEs
  • training of workers in methodical skills in digitisation
  • ensuring the training of young digitally skilled staff
  • development of recruiting of new talent and young skilled workers
  • creating a communication platform for networking SMCs from the region

Each of the partners involved has their own focus in the hub. The focus of ESB Business School at Reutlingen University is digitisation in production and additive manufacturing.

In “Werk 150”, the newly built test environment “Werk 150“ at Reutlingen University which was opened in 2019, you can experience a digitised production plant live as well as try out tasks from intra logistics on many individual demonstrators. Furthermore, information events taking in state-of-the-art science and technology related to digitisation in SMEs are also available. In different training formats such as lectures and workshops employees from SMEs can be trained specifically in integrated approaches related to the digital transformation. On the newly created digital platform SMEs from the region can build up networks and exchange views on topics related to digitisation. We will be glad to arrange a target-group oriented initial advisory session, free of charge for SMEs, at your company.  If you have any questions, please contact Marc Guldin.

Registration details for our events will be available here shortly.
